Kickstarting Modern Love
David launched the Kickstarter campaign for completing Modern Love a couple of days ago. The early response has been strong and with a good tailwind, clear skies, and enough fuel, he’ll be able to land the album on time. He’s heading to Ridgewood, NJ next week to mix with veteran producer Ben Wisch, then it’s on to mastering, manufacturing, and release in early October.

Modern Love Update
The new album Modern Love is well into production. David finished writing the songs for it this winter and began recording at Ben Wisch’s NJ studio in March. He took an “old school” approach to the basic tracking: four guys playing at the same time in the same place. Guitarist Kevin Barry, bassist Paul Ossola, drummer Chris Marshak, and David on keys brought their creative best to the project.

New Album In The Works
David has written eight new songs for his next album, Modern Love. Six of the songs are based on stories from the column by the same name that appears each week in the Sunday New York Times. He’s aiming to write four or five more over the next few months and begin recording in March of 2013.

Year End Chart Action
Lucky Me made Roots Music Report’s Top 100 for 2011, coming in at #45 on the folk chart. Not sure how “folky” the album is, but great to have there!

Airplay Campaign
Highlights from the airplay campaign for Lucky Me: Reached #7 on Roots Music Report’s Top 50; received airplay on over 65 stations in approximately 30 states nationwide; also received extensive Internet airplay; Lufthansa Airlines added “Lucky You” to their in-flight program; “Doin’ All Right” featured on Undercurrents syndicated show on over 70 stations.
